TESTING GUIDE
Basic skills achievement testing is held each spring for all students at RHCS. Achievement and aptitude tests are used for measuring general progression, placement in particular courses or activities, and for recognition of achievement.
Elementary Testing
· CTB Terra Nova/InView Achievement and Aptitude Testing:
Grades K5-6 Basic Achievement Testing
Grades 3-6 InView Aptitude Testing
Duke Talent Identification Participation will be available to 4th through 6th graders at or above the 95th percentile in one or more subject areas.
The program is optional and provides educational information and opportunities for high-achieving students. Eligible students and their parents will be notified by letter.
High School Testing
· CTB Terra Nova/InView Achievement and Aptitude Testing
Grades 7-11
Duke Talent Identification Participation is available for 7th graders achieving at or above the 95th percentile in one or more subject areas of the Terra Nova 3. These 7th graders are invited to take the ACT or SAT test. By participating, students are eligible for special programs and educational opportunities through Duke University. Eligible students and their parents will be notified by letter.
Eleventh graders are eligible to take the PSAT/NMSQT, the preliminary test for the SAT. This also serves as the nominating scores
for the National Merit Scholarship Program.. It is available to 10th graders when accommodations allow and serves as a practice for the test to be taken during their junior year.
Tenth grade students take the Pre-ACT, which is a college-readiness indicator test. By examining their scores, students can identify their weaknesses and strengths and better prepare for the ACT.
The P-SAT 8/9 is open to students in those grades who would like to know their level of college-readiness.
